Caffeine is a type of Methylxanthine Alkaloid. Caffeine binds to Adenosine Receptors and is therefore regarded as an Adenosine Antagonist - after drinking a few cups of (non-decaffeinated) Coffee, 50% of Adenosine Receptors are totally blockaded by Caffeine.
