Cayenne, or Chilli, is a small, 'hot' pepper commonly used as a spice. Paprika is a milder variety of Chilli. It has several botanical names, Capsicum annum, Capsicum frutescens and Capsicum minimum, and is part of the Nightshade family. The part of the Chilli that is commonly used is the fruit and sometimes the seeds.
