Cysteine is a Non-Essential, Glucogenic, Sulfur-Containing Amino Acid that is synthesized in the Liver. Cysteine and Cystine readily convert to one another and have almost identical functions within the body (although Cystine is a less desirable form than "true" Cysteine).
